With Easter in the rear-view mirror and figures in from Community Care Northumberland's Easter Cookie sales finished for another year, the news is good – cookie lovers in Northumberland purchased a record 750-plus boxes.
This annual partnership with Roda's Kitchen (not to mention a supportive community and generous donors) raised enough this year to provide 1,000 meals for CCN's Meals On Wheels clients.
In addition to the sales, the announcement added, a last-minute donation from Lynn Hardy of RBC Dominion Securities helped CCN reach that goal.
Meals On Wheels provides nutritious meals – both hot and frozen – to seniors and adults with disabilities who, for various reasons, are unable to cook for themselves. Proceeds from this fundraiser go directly to support this vital service to vulnerable individuals.
“We are extremely grateful to our community, cookie lovers, staff, volunteers and Lucy at Roda's Kitchen for their tremendous support in making this year's Easter Cookies fundraiser a resounding success,” CCN Chief Executive Officer Trish Baird said.
“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Northumberland community at large for the incredible support, and to Lucy at Roda's Kitchen for her incredible cookie craftsmanship and support of Meals on Wheels,” Manager of Nutrition Services Sheri Birney added.
“We are also thankful to our dedicated staff and volunteers, who worked tirelessly to make this fundraiser a success. Together, we have made a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need in our community.”
CCN is already looking forward to next year's Easter Cookies fundraiser, and the continued support from the community.
