Have your say on On-Demand Transit

By Cecilia Nasmith

The Town of Cobourg's Communications Department announces a new public engagement project on Engage Cobourg – input on their On-Demand Transit Survey.

A one-year pilot project to offer residents on-demand services – including adding virtual transit stops where transit services had not been available with fixed-route service – was launched April 19, 2021.

On-Demand Transit is a shared-ride public-transit service without a fixed schedule or route. The bus travel is optimized by computer software, and it is based upon rider trip requests on a first-come-first-served basis that also offers the option to request trips up to one week in advance.

Now the town is looking for input from riders who have given it a try, inviting them to visit Engage Cobourg to share their thoughts by taking the survey and commenting in the forum by the Feb. 28 deadline.

Paper copies of the survey are also available on board the transit buses – these can be returned to the driver or dropped off at Victoria Hall (55 King St. W.) in the finance drop box on the west side of the building.
