Cobourg moves Civic Awards

By Cecilia Nasmith

The Town of Cobourg has announced that the 21st annual Civic Awards will be postponed from its usual spring date to Oct. 18 – to coincide with Local Government Week.

This is one way Cobourg recognizes residents who have benefited the community through outstanding volunteerism and involvement, enriching the community and making it a better place through their time, talent and dedication.
The press release says the postponement is due to the 2022 municipal election and the subsequent reorganization of the town's committees and local boards.

It also made the call for new members for the Civic Awards planning committee. It will meet monthly, starting in April, then more frequently as the event date approaches.

This committee is responsible for organizing the annual awards gala, as well as overseeing the nomination and evaluation of individual award categories. Anyone interested in being part of this work can visit www.cobourg.ca and selecting this option on the Advisory Committees and Local Boards button on the home screen.
