The Ontario government will be investing over 1 million dollars into infrastructure for Cobourg’s Northumberland Hills Hospital.

MPP David Piccini of Northumberland-Peterborough South announced the $1,005,000 investment at the NHH this Tuesday morning.

The funding is part of the government’s $182.6 million investment through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund. The HIRF helps hospitals improve and maintain infrastructure.

“This funding will ensure that patients can continue to access the care they need in safe, comfortable environments,” said Piccini outside the hospital.

CEO and President of the Northumberland Hills Hospital Susan Walsh says the money will go towards the hospital’s ongoing $2.5 million dollar infrastructure repair project.

Walsh said the NHH, which celebrates its 18th anniversary later this month, has infrastructure needs which “increase each year.”

“On behalf of our team and our board of directors, and all those who rely on NHH for care, thank you for the continued investment made in NHH through the HIRF,” said Walsh.
