Cornerstone invites you to join Circle Of Hope for Valentine's Day

By Cecilia Nasmith

Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre invites the community to show its love this Valentine's Day and offer women and children a brighter, safer and healthier future through the Circle of Hope monthly giving club.

This group consists of supporters who spread their charitable gifts out over a year in subscription-based giving, the press release said. By investing monthly, they support a community dedicated to Cornerstone's mission to break the cycle of family violence and empower women to know they can live a life free from abuse and move into a future free from violence.

A woman's safety and situation can change from month to month, the Cornerstone announcement said. But a monthly recurring gift can provide resources when and where she needs them.

Manager of communications and donor relations Carly Cunningham said the recurring-gift model is a win for both Cornerstone and its donors.

“As an agency, we receive a smooth, reliable revenue stream that we can count on,” Cunningham said.

“And donors are able to set a gift that fits their budget and forget it, as pre-authorized debit, post-dated cheques or automatic credit-card payments are available.”

Initiatives driven by the Circle of Hope club include prevention programs where youth are taught the signs, symptoms and steps to reduce their risk of being involved in unhealthy relationships, safety planning to guide women through creating personalized, practical plans to avoid dangerous situations, and direct service training to help staff provide the best level of service possible for all clients.

The press release included kudos from Circle of Hope members Lynda and Don Sellar, who have budgeted what they termed a steady, reliable trickle from their bank account that in time adds up to enough to make a difference.

These affordable amounts provide sustained support for Cornerstone programs, putting the donors into the community of those who understand the importance of a long-term commitment to a violence-free future for all. These amounts can be increased, decreased or cancelled at any time.
