This year's Smile Cookie campaign at Tim Hortons saw thousands of customers in Colborne, Cobourg and Port Hope pull together to raise $50,003 for Ed's House.
This is the third year of a three-year commitment local Tim Hortons shops made to support the new Northumberland Hospice Care Centre, with $30.910 raised in 2018 and $42,410 raised in 2019. This year, Tim Hortons customers also donated an additional $540 at drive-through windows for the cause.
In all, these figures far exceed the $100,000 commitment these Tim Hortons shops originally made to Ed's House.
It's the fifth year Community Care Northumberland has benefited from Smile Cookies, executive director Trish Baird pointed out – the first two years raising money for their other programs and services, the last three years supporting services directed at hospice clients and their loved ones.
“We thank all involved in making this Smile Cookie Campaign in support of Ed’s House a success, including our local Tim Hortons owners and staff members, our volunteers and staff members who decorated cookies and greeted customers at the drive-through, and everyone who purchased a Smile Cookie,” Baird said.
The popular fall campaign is a chain-wide event, with 100% of proceeds from each $1 Smile Cookie supporting a local charity.
Local Tim Hortons owners John and Kim Meeussen, Ron and Jeri Horton Joyce and Jen McCall are pleased to wind up another successful Smile Cookie week, and especially to support and help raise awareness about Ed's House and its services.
