Coast Guard facility deconstruction begins – along with closures

By Cecilia Nasmith

The Town of Cobourg has announced pedestrian and parking-lot closures that will begin Tuesday, April 5, due to the deconstruction and removal of debris (and the heavy equipment involved) on the Coast Guard site on Cobourg's east pier.

Residents are asked to use caution in the Division Street South and east pier areas of the waterfront during the demolition portion of the demolition of the Coast Guard facility and the construction of its replacement. Partial parking lot closure of Division Street South will run until demolition is completed.

The town's waterfront staff thank everyone for their patience and consideration while this phase of the project takes place. It is expected that the demolition will be complete by the end of the week.
