Collision Between A Train and Cyclist in Cobourg

Cobourg Police Service have issued the following press release.

At approximately 6:00 PM on Thursday November 23, 2017 a male was riding northbound on D’Arcy Street in the Town of Cobourg. This male was riding an electric bicycle and crossed the railway tracks, while crossing warning lights and bells were active and the gates were down.
This brought the male directly into the oncoming path of a westbound VIA rail passenger train. 

As a result of the collision, the male cyclist succumbed to injuries that he received.

Currently, the investigation into this incident is on-going and officers are currently undertaking to identify and notify family members of the deceased.
