Paramedic staff additions announced

By Cecilia Nasmith

Northumberland Paramedics have found successful candidates for two key posts, as announced at the April meeting of Northumberland County council's Community Health Standing Committee.

The new Quality Improvement and Education Superintendent is Angie Morrison, an advanced-care paramedic already on the force with more than 20 years of experience, Paramedics Chief Susan Brown told the committee.

She had been a Northumberland County paramedic since 2007, Brown added, “and she has a certificate in adult education and human resources.”

For the Operational Shift Superintendent, she said, “we went out and had a full recruitment, receiving approximately 15 applications which we interviewed.”

They ended up – as Brown put it – going external by bringing in Jason Curlette. Along with 30 years of experience in the field, he has also been an active volunteer for his local fire service and police auxiliary.

“Jason will be able to bring a wealth of knowledge regarding the other first responders, and we are really excited to welcome him as well,” she said.
