Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre announces that services will remain available through the new lockdown that was announced on Jan. 12.
With increased infection-prevention measures in place, and virtual capabilities, the agency's vital programming and services will remain available to community members impacted by family violence and abuse.
In the press release, executive director Nancy Johnson stressed the importance of keeping these services open.
“We know the impacts a lockdown can have on gender based issues,” Johnston said.
“And through our last experience, we know that violence thrives when people are staying in a home with abuse; thus we remain open and ready to provide support.”
These supports are available in person or by phone.
A face covering is required on the premises, and all those who enter the building will be screened. The front door will be locked, but those seeking support can still come in for service by ringing the bell and speaking with staff through the intercom.
Those seeking support are encouraged to call ahead to make service arrangements, if possible.
