Victoria Hall Concert Hall announces Enhanced Concerts

By Cecilia Nasmith

The Town of Cobourg's Community Services Division is pleased to announce a new era of live entertainment at the Victoria Hall Concert Hall that is being termed Enhanced Concerts.

This new concept includes digital enhancements that utilize techniques typically seen in feature films and television but in a cost-effective version.

The town's press release said that the first such Enhanced Concert occurred Aug. 2 at the Fleetwood Mac Mania show, when 150 ticket holders were treated to an impressive visual-effects displayed that stretched 44 ft. wide and 20 ft. high around the live artists as they performed.

“Thanks to the evolution of digital technology, we can now utilize these incredible techniques to enhance our own concerts and live-theatre events in an extremely cost-effective and exciting way,” artistic and creative consultant Antonio Sarmiento said in the town's press release.

“Audiences and artists alike are attracted to live entertainment in this exciting format they would typically only see in Las Vegas or New York.”

The Concert Hall currently has 17 concerts and events added to the 2019 line-up, including a list of premier tribute artists performing the music of such stars as the Bee Gees, Supertramp, Celine Dion, Carole King and Elton John – not to mention such original artists as John McDermott, Sultans of String and the Gentleman Husbands who will be performing. Along with the eclectic mix of music and genres, concert goers can expect the new Enhanced Concert experience.

Cobourg's director of community services Dean Hustwick stated that the Community Services Division is committed to delivering superior cultural programs and activities and quality customer service.

“The Cobourg Community Centre and the Concert Hall, with its improved audio-visual capabilities, are valued cultural assets for our community, as outlined in the new draft Cultural Master Plan that is currently available for public input at EngageCobourg.ca.”

Other improvements at the Concert Hall include enhanced concessions, seating, sound, lighting, video and marketing through the generous support of local suppliers. As well, the Concert Hall box office offers tickets to concerts, live theatre and special events taking place at additional venues such as the Cobourg Community Centre, Firehall Theatre and LOFT Cinema.

In addition to the improved concert experience, the Concert Hall has collaborated with Woodlawn Inn to launch VIP Packages and announces an Experience Partner initiative that offers discounts to ticket holders at more than 40 local restaurants and businesses.
