Northumberland lowers flags to half-mast in honour of NS victims

By Cecilia Nasmith

In honour of the victims of last weekend's mass shooting in Nova Scotia, flags at Northumberland County buildings have been lowered to half-mast and Warden Bob Sanderson has issued a statement:

“Northumberland County extends its deepest condolences and support to the people of Nova Scotia in response to this incomprehensible tragedy. When words are entirely insufficient, we pray that Nova Scotians can find some solace in the solidarity of fellow Canadians who stand behind them, joined in sorrow and grief.

“Our thoughts are with first responders who answered the call of duty to protect the community and respond to those in need in the face of great personal risk, and who continue to address the aftermath of this tragedy. And we share our heartfelt thoughts and prayers with the families, friends and colleagues of those who have lost their lives.

“In recognition of this solemn occasion, flags at all Northumberland County buildings will fly at half-mast until further notice.”
