Community Care Northumberland announces that it has begun the recruitment process for clinical and support staff for the Ed's House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre in preparation for welcoming the facility's first residents this fall.

Led by CCN, the new Hamilton Township facility will not only provide palliative care in a supportive residential setting but will also serve as a new home for the agency's hospice-care services. This list includes grief and bereavement support and education, caregiver support, and health-system navigation for clients as well as their family members and caregivers.

Recruitment has begun for Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses, Personal Support Workers, a Building Maintenance Custodian and a Food Services Co-ordinator.

Interested and qualified candidates are encouraged to apply for these positions.

CCN executive director Trish Baird said they have had enquiries about staffing since it was first announced that the new hospice centre would be built.

“We have received significant support for, and interest in, this project from the community, and we are optimistic we will be able to select qualified, compassionate staff adding to our current hospice-services team, all contributing to a comfortable experience for both hospice residents and their families.”

Job postings detailing qualifications, accountabilities, and application procedures are on the Community Care website (https://www.commcare.ca/careers.html) and on the home page of the Ed's House website (Northumberland Hospice Care Centre).

The deadline to apply for Building Maintenance Custodian is June 12, and the deadline for all other positions is June 30.
