As the province continues the reopening process during the COVID-19 pandemic, Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention has issued an update on its on-going service modifications.
For now, the bulletin said, service delivery remains modified to protect both clients and staff, though they continue to take a client-centred approach.
The shelter remains open, and staff continue to work with the community to ensure people are housed safely.
Counselling and outreach appointments take place virtually wherever possible, and staff work remotely.
Groups and workshops are cancelled until further notice, in light of physical-distancing recommendations.
Staff have been provided personal protective equipment, and there is an enhancement of already rigourous cleaning and sanitation protocols for facilities.
Meanwhile, the 24-hr. support line continues to be answered as usual for those who call 905-372-0746. And the new Cornerstone Connect has been launched, available noon to 8 p.m. daily for those who text 289-210-4774 or visit cornerstonenorthumberland.ca/connect for an on-line chat.
“Our services are always free of charge, secure and completely confidential,” the update said.
“If you need support, please reach out.
“If you are in immediate danger, call 911.”
While they cannot now accept donations of clothing and household items, they have strong partnerships with local consignment and thrift stores who may be accepting such items.
