Paid parking returns to Cobourg

By Cecilia Nasmith

Almost a year after the Town of Cobourg abolished paid parking as a COVID-control measure, the town has announced the return of paid parking downtown as of March 4.

This applies to all metered parking spots and permit parking lots in the downtown core daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

With Victoria Hall still closed to the public, parking permits for these downtown lots can be purchased on-line by submitting your license plate number and the make of your vehicle. If you require special arrangements to purchase a parking permit, contact Engineering and Public Transit Administrator Renee Champagne at 905-372-4555 or rchampagne@cobourg.ca.

The town also reminds drivers of the HonkMobile app, an option to pay for parking at any on-street parking meter with a smartphone, tablet or computer with web access.

The app is available at honkmobile.com, Google Play or the App Store. Set up your account with as many vehicles and payment sources as you like on your profile, then use is to pay for your parking at all Cobourg on-street meter locations.

For more information, call 905-372-4555 or visit cobourg.ca/parking.
