County announces new ways to dispose of HHW

By Cecilia Nasmith

Among adjustments to operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Northumberland County is advising residents that seasonal Household Hazardous Waste depots originally planned for Cobourg and Seymour will not operate in 2021.

Instead, the county is directing residents to year-round depots at the Brighton and Bewdley Community Recycling Centres for disposal of their household hazardous waste, which will be accepted on scheduled days.

In Brighton you can dispose of this material Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. In Bewdley, this waste will be accepted Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., as well as Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

As well, the announcement said, electronic waste is accepted year-round at all three CRCs – Brighton, Bewdley and Seymour – during standard operating hours.
