A fire at the Golden Plough Lodge Saturday has forced several residents from their rooms.

Northumberland County said the fire was contained to a single resident’s room, where smoke and water damage have decommissioned two residents' rooms on the main floor.

On the level below, two residents rooms, office space and the nursing station have also been impacted.

All but seven residents were able to return to their rooms.

Six residents were relocated within the facility and staff are working to place the seventh resident elsewhere.

Restoration work is now underway and could take several weeks to complete.

A cause for the fire was not specified.
