The Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Cobourg have announced that Dominique Sayers is the recipient of this year's William Crossen Young Professional Award, which will be presented at the Business Achievement Awards ceremony March 28.

Sponsored by the Jacqueline Pennington Real Estate Team, this award is named after William Crossen, eldest son of James Crossen and eventual manager of the Crossen Car Manufacturing Company of Cobourg. It recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of those aged 40 or younger who own, operate or manage a business within the Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce area – Cobourg, as well as the townships of Hamilton and Alnwick-Haldimand.

Sayers is the owner of B&D Liquidation at 20 Strathy Rd. in Cobourg, and an example of business succession planning as she has taken over majority ownership of the business from her father Blake.

Business Achievement Award co-chair Alison Lester offered congratulations to the winner, adding, “Her entrepreneurship skills and ability to adapt to changing economic times has led B&D Liquidation to reinvent itself over time.”

Opened in 1999, the business strove to offer quality brand-name merchandise at low prices, and to offer a fresh experiences as customers walked through its doors. That part has not changed, and today's B&D Bins venture is a unique selling strategy where product prices reduce daily, creating a dynamic shopping experience that keeps bringing the customers back.

“The award is not just about myself, but I have my parents, my husband and my entire team behind me to thank for helping me become the person I am today, for making me want to continuously be better, for picking me up when I stumble, for having my back and gor being my family,” Sayers said in the announcement.

“I am only as good as my team, and I have the best standing beside me. I am looking forward to continuing to do what I love, and providing the best liquidation store in Northumberland County with the best deals.”

The official presentation of the award will be part of the annual Business Achievement Awards March 28 at the Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn and Convention Centre, with Sherry Gibson returning as Master of Ceremonies. Tickets are available now at $100 + HST at www.NCCofC.ca
