Port Hope CAO is moving on

The Municipality of Port Hope is announcing that Chief Administrative Officer Candice White has advised council of her resignation, as she accepts a provincial appointment as Chief Executive Officer for Skilled Trades Ontario.

Having come to work for Port Hope in November 2023, White said in the announcement that, “this next chapter comes sooner than anticipated. But I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the Municipality over the past year.

“Port Hope is a remarkable community, and it has been an honour to serve its residents and businesses alongside the dedicated staff and council. My time here will always hold a special place in my heart.”

The announcement listed White's accomplishments over her year at the helm, including the addition of a new Director of Environmental Services and a Port Hope Area Initiative liaison. She also led the organization through Phase 2 of the Walton Street reconstruction project (now nearing successful completion) and expanded the approach to budget engagement efforts for the Municipality.

“Her dedication and expertise have not only driven key initiatives forward, but have also set a strong foundation for future growth. We are grateful for her hard work and commitment and, while we will miss her greatly, we wish her every success in her future endeavours.”

White's last day at the Municipality will be Nov. 22. The recruitment process to appoint a new CAO is currently being developed, with further details to be communicated in the weeks ahead,
