King Street in Colborne was temporarily closed early Saturday morning as fire crews were attempting to extinguish a blaze at the Circle K.

Crews responded at approximately 4 AM. Today’s Northumberland reports that Fire Chief Matt Halmasy says fire appears to have started in the back storage area of the building.

Halmasy believes the fire eventually spread to the roof, soon engulfing the entire structure. The roof did collapse into the building. The fire is not deemed suspicious.

The road was reopened at approximately 8:45 AM. The Ontario Fire Marshall has been contacted.
