Cobourg

Cobourg council has agreed to fly a special flag at Victoria Hall commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Lions Club of Cobourg.

A special flag commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Cobourg Lions Club will fly outside Victoria Hall the week of April 7 to 13, council declared Wednesday.

A look at the club's contributions was shared by Ron Hyatt, who listed supporting Northumberland Hills Hospital and local sports associations, offering bursaries and scholarships, helping families and individuals in need and the pavilion in Victoria Park.

During that week, from the 11th to 13th, the club will host a district convention at the Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn and Convention Centre, where 50 clubs will be represented.

Celebrations also include a public open house at the Lions Community Centre at 157 Elgin St. E. on April 13, with details to be announced.
