Campbellford high school locked down on gun threat

A 15 year old boy is facing charges for allegedly bringing a handgun to school in Campbellford.

Northumberland OPP say officers responded to a high school in the Trent Hills community Tuesday just after 12PM, to a report of a student making threats and in possession of weapons at a high school.

The school was placed on lockdown for the safety of all staff and students.

Police claim to have seized a handgun, ammunition and a number of edged weapons.

The boy, from Havelock, was arrested without incident. He is charged with:

Carry firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in careless manner

-      Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose - two counts

-      Carrying concealed weapon

-      Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

-      Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

-      Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

-      Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm.

He was held in custody and will appear in  Cobourg court at a later date. 

The identity of the accused is being withheld as it is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
