Wednesday's meeting of the newly amalgamated health unit included approval of the 2025 budget, which should result in a 4% increase for Northumberland funding partners.

The news came in a report from the Haliburton Kawartha Northumberland Peterborough Board of Health following this week's meeting of the newly amalgamated body.

Under the Cost Share Budget heading, the board of health approved a budget that will see a $1.23 per capita increase to each local funding partner over the 2024 contributions. For the former Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit, this is a 4% increase to local funders (and a 5.6% increase to funders of the former Peterborough Public Health).

The board also recommended offering live streaming and summary notes of regular meetings moving forward. Meetings will be live-streamed to YouTube, and meetings will be summarized and shared with the community, community partners and media partners afterwards.

The next meeting will take place March 20 at 1 p.m. You can view the meeting summary, agenda and package at the HKPR website.
