The Town of Cobourg has issued a call for interested members of the community to serve in an advisory capacity for two projects – the Parks and Recreation Master Plan Task Force and the Accessibility Advisory Committee.
For the Parks and Recreation Master Plan Task Force, nine engaged and qualified citizens are sought as volunteer members to play a key role in guiding the development of this master plan as it establishes the vision and priorities for how the town invests in and manages its recreational facilities, parks, trails, green spaces and programming over the next decade and beyond.
The town is hoping to hear from community members who demonstrate experience of interest in recreation, urban ecology, park planning, inclusion or cultural heritage – who are available to participate regularly over the project duration and can work collaboratively and respectfully in diverse groups.
Until Friday, Nov. 21, interested persons can apply in-person at Victoria Hall, or on-line at www.Cobourg.ca/committees (scroll down to the list of Current Advisory Committees, Local Boards and/or Ad Hoc Committees, find the listing for the Parks and Recreation Master Plan Task Force, look to the right-hand side of the screen and click on the green button that reads View, and then click on the green button that says Apply).
For the Accessibility Advisory Committee, two vacancies must be filled. This committee advises council on ensuring that individuals with disabilities have access to the services available to everyone in the community.
Applicants must be Cobourg residents and/or taxpayers and must be over the age of 18, with an interest in helping the committee fulfill its tasks – reviewing and and providing timely input on development plans and policies that may impact accessibility, raising the profile of accessibility issues in the community, promoting initiative that support a universally accessible community, reviewing government policies at all levels that relate to accessibility, and consulting and co-operating with other agencies and organizations involved with accessibility issues.
