Cobourg holiday season goes beyond Christmas

Cobourg

As the countdown to Christmas begins, the Town of Cobourg reminds everyone there are plenty of festivities after the big day.

The Town of Cobourg has just issued an invitation to enjoy plenty more holiday events leading up to the New Year, even after Christmas.

The list begins with the Mayor and Council Community Skate at the Bowl Arena at the Cobourg Community Centre (750 D'Arcy St.) from 1 to 3 p.m. And if you care to bring along a non-perishable food donation for Northumberland Fare Share food bank, donation bins will be handy.

First Night Cobourg 2025 will offer an early countdown and stunning fireworks display to welcome the new year. It runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rotary Harbourfront Park (35 Albert St.), with (weather permitting) skating to the music of a live DJ on the outdoor rink. Horse-and-wagon rides will be offered through Cobourg's scenic streets prior to the countdown to fireworks over the harbour at 9 p.m.

The Mayor and Council New Year's Levee takes place Jan. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Victoria Hall Concert Hall (55 King St. W.), with live music by the Concert Band of Cobourg's jazz group The Bootnecks and a special performance by SONG (Sounds of the Next Generation). Family-friendly activities and festive refreshments (including cotton candy and popcorn) will be part of the fun, with a proclamation to welcome the new year by Town Crier Mandy Robinson.

And there will still be time for a stroll through the Christmas Magic lights. They will be on display through Jan. 5 in Victoria Park and through Family Day (Feb. 17) in the Rotary Harbourfront Park.
