Ontario Provincial Police said it has made an arrest in a string of suspected theft and fraud incidents in Brighton dating back to June 2023.

Authorities responded to a fraud complaint at a home on Prince Edward Street Sunday evening. Its alleged the man demanded money for unpaid work that wasn’t completed or requested. Thomas Payne would later be arrested.

OPP allege Payne was involved in at least four other incidents since May either intimidating or demanding money under false pretenses. He was charged with theft, fraud and other offenses. He was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.
