NORTHUMBERLAND

EarlyON centres and partner facilities have collaborated on a fun family activity that runs throughout the month

Families with young children are invited to take some time this month to explore EarlyON Northumberland programming by checking off destinations and activities on their EarlyON Discovery Passport.

It's an opportunity not only to win, but to discover together the many locations, partners and programs that offer free EarlyOn programming throughout Northumberland.

Northumberland's eight EarlyON Child and Family Centres offer a wide range of free drop-in programs for families with children aged six and under, as well as special programming at such partner facilities as community centres, libraries and parks.

The passport challenge involves collecting five or more stamps from various EarlyON centres, programs or partner locations to receive a participation prize, as well as the chance to win one of two $100 Indigo gift cards.

EarlyOn programming offers families play-based learning activities as well as the chance to connect with other local families. A versatile program schedule is designed to accommodate the needs of busy families, with sessions available on weekdays, weekends, mornings and evenings – ample opportunity to enjoy indoor and outdoor exploration, Indigenous teachings, family hikes, story times and special programs tailored to new or expecting parents.

After the success of the Family Fun Bingo Challenge earlier this year, Northumberland Early Years Service Manager Lesley Patterson said in the announcement that this follow-up program is planned as a new and engaging way to connect with local families.

“EarlyON Northumberland greatly values the importance of building relationships and offering safe spaces to grow and live in the community,” Patterson said.

“With this contest, we invite parents, grandparents and caregivers to visit new EarlyON locations or programs, meet new families in their neighbourhood, and to feel welcomed to play, learn and explore together.”

Pick up a passport at your local EarlyON Child and Family Centre or print one off by visiting the EarlyON Northumberland website. Show it to staff at each destination to get your stamp, and submit your completed passport to your local EarlyON Educator by Nov. 30 for your prize.
