New YMCA facility opens in Campbellford this morning

The new YMCA facility in Campbellford is now open. Doors to the Sunny Life Recreation and Wellness Centre opened this morning at 6:30 for fitness goers and swimmers. “Over the moon excited,” said Kathryn Harrison, Manager of Marketing, Communications and Media Relations with Northumberland YMCA. “This is a project that has been in the works for over 20 years. The amount of excitement we get from the people of Campbellford about this opening is phenomenal, more than we expected.”


The full suite of YMCA amenities includes a warming pool,  four lane 25 metre pool, a conditioning centre with free weights, weight machines and cardio equipment, multiple  changerooms, two studios and a multi-purpose space. Some aquatic programs are being offered, however fitness programs are under development and expected to be ready in the coming weeks.Full schedules for more programming are  coming out soon.

“This bright and spacious  building reflects our commitment to creating a welcoming place where people of all ages can improve  their health, build friendships, and connect as a community,” explained Eunice Kirkpatrick, President & CEO, YMCA Northumberland.

To further celebrate the opening of the new facility, in partnership with the Municipality of Trent Hills,  YMCA Northumberland will also be hosting a Grand Reveal Open House on Friday, December 13,  from 2:30 to 6 PM. This event, free and open to the public, will offer an opportunity for the community  to experience the new facility firsthand. Attendees can enjoy official ceremonies, free skating and  swimming, class demonstrations, kid’s activities, light refreshments.
