The plan is to reduce the barriers individuals face in replacing lost or outdated ID in a way that bypasses the typical daunting and time-consuming process that sometimes requires multiple visits to different offices.
“Identification is a vital necessity, but replacing identification is not just about paperwork – it's about ensuring people have access to essential services,” Ontario Works Manager Jennifer Glover said int he announcement.
“It allows people to access health care, social supports, open a bank account and secure employment.
“This clinic is a collaborative effort to help residents overcome barriers and connect with the resources they need to thrive.”
This event will provide hands-on help with applications and referrals to community programs, with representatives from Service Canada, Service Ontario, Northumberland Legal Aid and other partners on-site to offer in-person assistance.
As well, the clinic will provide information and referrals for health care, child-care support and housing services.
“This clinic is about strengthening our community by providing a convenient, accessible and welcoming space for everyone, and creating stability for individuals and families,” Glover continued.
“Whether you need help replacing a health cared, accessing government programs or just want to learn more about local resources, key community partner agencies will be onsite to assist.”
