The Wind Phone, described as a healing piece of art, has been added to the Therapeutic Garden at Ed's House, thanks to the donation of local retired teachers

Ed's House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre is celebrating a special addition to its Therapeutic Garden – a new Wind Phone.

“This special installation provides visitors with a space to reflect, remember and connect with their loved ones who have passed away, offering comfort and a sense of peace during moments of grief.”

The idea is to share your own goodbye with words to be carried on the wind, honouring the memories of those no longer with us and expressing our love for them.

This special project was made possible with the generous $4,000 donation of RTOERO District 30 Northumberland, making it possible to add this important piece of healing art to the serenity of their Therapeutic Garden.

Community Care Northumberland Chief Executive Officer Trish Baird called it “a powerful symbol of remembrance and healing, and we are so thankful for the community's commitment to providing a space where individuals can process grief and feel a connection to their loved ones.”

Baird extended special thanks to Therapeutic Garden Co-ordinator Lori Groves for her leadership and passion in creating and maintaining a serene and supportive environment where healing can take place.
Special thanks were also given to the Northumberland Master Gardeners for their time and expertise, and to the local businesses who gave the supplies and labour to help them – The Tree Medic, Bin-It, Cold Springs Flower Farm, and Davey Sand, Gravel and Landscape Supplies.

“Ed's House is committed to providing spaces of comfort and healing, and the Wind Phone is an extension of that mission,” the announcement said.
