Port Hope

With the departure of CAO Candice White, the Municipality of Port Hope announces that the position will be held on an interim basis by Tonia Bennett until the process of recruiting a replacement can be completed – probably by spring.

The Municipality of Port Hope announced Thursday that Tonia Bennett has been appointed interim Chief Administrative Officer through the recruitment process to replace Candice White, whose resignation became final this month.

This process is now underway, the announcement said, and is expected to be finalized by spring.
Mayor Olena Hankivsky said she looks forward to working with Bennett, who most recently served as CAO for the Municipality of Marmora and Lake, located in Hastings County.

“Tonia's breadth of municipal experience and previous CAO experience will serve our community well during this transition period,” Hankivsky added.

Reporting directly to council, the CAO is the most member of municipal staff, working to implement council's direction and all the municipality's organizational and operational services.

Bennett's duties begin Nov. 25, and it is expected she will be formally appointed by council through a bylaw at their Nov. 26 regular session.

Further information about the CAO recruitment process will continue to be shared with the community as it is available.
