We want to make EV driving more convenient across the province, not just dense urban areas,” Piccini said in the press release.
The Northumberland sites, part of the government's $63-million EV ChargeON Program Community Sites Stream, will see three located at Campbellford Chrysler in Trent Hills, four at Cobourg's Albert Street parking lot, and three at Cobourg Nissan Ltd.
Each will include Level 2 charging stations, Level 3 charging stations or a combination of both.
With more than 201,000 electric vehicles on the road in Ontario (and possibly more than one-million by 2030), the government has also launched a new Ultra-Low Overnight Electricity Price Plan, which is helping customers who use more electricity at night (including those who charge their electric vehicles) save up to $90 a year.
It is also exploring options for an Electric Vehicle Charger Discount Electricity Rate to further support EV adoption and reduce emissions.
