COBOURG

The second annual Cougars For Kids event is more than just a game. It's an adventure, held in support of treatment services for local families.

Mark Nov. 16 on your calendar for the second annual Cougars For Kids event.

That's the day the Cobourg Cougars will partner up with Five Counties Children's Centre for a matinee game against the Buffalo Jr. Sabres. A Five Counties family will provide the puck drop at 3:30 p.m. at the Cobourg Community Centre, but pre-game activities with Five Counties start at 3 p.m.

These include Five Counties kids getting to be part of a behind-the-scenes experience, with the opportunity to give the hometown team a pep talk and help out the game's broadcast crew.

There will also be such pre-game fun activities as face painting and giant Lego, as well as a silent auction fundraiser for Five Counties. And everyone who signs up to receive the Five Counties e-newsletter will be eligible for a variety of door prizes.
And during one of the intermissions, the Northumberland Predators team will take the ice for a sledge-hockey demonstration.

In the announcement, Cougars Director of Business Operations Erika Seggie said the team is more than a hockey club.

While our goal is to win on the ice, the Coubars also eant to contribute and assist the community off the ice. Teaming up again for Cougars For Kids is a great way to do this and spotlight the incredible work that Five Counties does to support kids and families in our community,” Seggie stated.

Game tickets are now available through the Cobourg Cougars website, with the Cougars donating $2 from each sale to Five Counties to support treatment services to Northumberland families. And kids under the age of 12 showing up in a Cougars jersey, when accompanied by an adult, are admitted free.
