Community Care Northumberland announces its annual Volunteer Fair Sept. 26, a free drop-in event to bring together local organizations looking to welcome new volunteers into their ranks.

And as for the volunteers, the Volunteer Fair offers ample scope to build new skills, expand one's network, give back to the community or just try something new.

It's a chance to discover volunteer roles that match one's interest and availability while supporting local organizations that represent a wide range of causes and services in the local community. Community Care, for example, provides a range of community support programs – transportation and Meals on Wheels, for example – that help residents live independently and with dignity.

The event is free and open to the public, running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cobourg Community Centre. 750 D'Arcy St.
