Cobourg to lower flags in honour of former deputy police chief

Flags across municipal buildings in Cobourg will be lowered to half-staff on Sunday to recognize the funeral of a former deputy police chief.

Paul Eddy passed away on August 27,  at the age of 84. He dedicated more than three decades of service to the Cobourg Police Service, rising through the ranks to serve as Deputy Chief before his retirement in 1996.

“On behalf of Council and the Town of Cobourg, we extend our sincere condolences to retired Deputy Chief Eddy’s family and loved ones,” said Mayor Lucas Cleveland. “We are grateful for his incredible service to Cobourg.”

In recognition of his distinguished service, he was awarded the Police Exemplary Service Medal by the Governor General of Canada in 1985 and received the First Bar to the medal in 1996, marking 30 years of exemplary service.
