Workman Road in Cobourg closed today for fire clean-up

Town of Cobourg officials say Workman Road between County Road 2 and Elgin Street East will be closed today, until approximately 5 p.m.

The Cobourg Fire Department will be on scene for overhaul operations following an active straw fire in the area last evening. The road was closed for several hours while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire. Overhaul operations is the process of searching for hidden fire extension on a fire scene, soon after the main fire has been extinguished.

The Cobourg Fire Department, Township of Hamilton Fire Department and Alnwick/Haldimand Fire Department worked Thursday to extinguish 150 largge bails of hay.
