Cobourg Police are warning the public over the misuse of over-the-counter medications, following two recent drug poisonings involving two youth.

In both incidents, the youth were transported to hospital for reportedly over ingesting Benadryl.

Recent reports in Canada have also highlighted concerns about the social media ‘Benadryl challenge’ encouraging the excessive consumption of diphenhydramine, a medication commonly used to treat allergies.

The circumstances of the incidents remain under investigation.
