A Port Hope man is facing charges following a crash Thursday. Police allege that a vehicle was speeding on Peacock Boulevard before driving onto the grass along Rose Glen Road.

Authorities attempted to stop the vehicle, but abandoned the pursuit out of safety concerns. The vehicle was located a short time later, after being involved in a single-vehicle collision.

The driver fled on foot but was arrested shortly afterward.

The unidentified 18-year-old driver is charged with dangerous driving, fleeing from police and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

He will appear in Cobourg court in October.
