As part of its drug strategy, the Haliburton Kawartha Lakes Northumberland Health Unit will host a June 17 symposium focused on dialogue, shared learning and collaboration around substance use and the four pillars – prevention, treatment, community safety and harm reduction.

Taking place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Best Western Cobourg Plus Inn and Convention Centre, it will feature opening remarks, expert presentations, facilitated break-out discussions, a panel conversation and a plenary session. There will also be the opportunity to network and connect, and lunch will be provided.

There will also be a May 28 session in Lindsay.

Drug Strategy Co-ordinator Ashley Smoke described the sessions as “an opportunity to bring together voices from across our region to share what's working, identify gaps and strengthen how we respond to substance use in our communities.

“By focusing on prevention, treatment, harm reduction and community safety, we can build more co-ordinated and compassionate approaches that meet people where they are.”

Discussions will be aimed at identifying local priorities, sharing promising practices and exploring opportunities to enhance co-ordinated responses across the HKLN region.

Registration is required. For more information, contact Smoke at 437-778-2336 or hklndrugstrategy@parn.ca
