Northumberland Hills Hospital welcomed a number of young philanthropists Oct. 5 to thank them for their help with this summer's fifth annual NHH Foundation fundraiser – Lemon-AID.

By setting up lemonade stands in support of the foundation over the summer, these young philanthropists and their families head that they raised some $2,400 for this year's project – purchasing cozy beanies for patients of the Lions and Lioness Cancer and Supportive Care Clinic, as well as stuffies for children needing surgery.

Foundation Chief Executive Officer Rhonda Cunningham extended her thanks to the group. Who hosted eight Lemon-AID stands over the season.

“When you think about how you all came together to raise $2,400 – much of it coming in as loonies and toonies – it is truly impressive,” Cunningham said.

“I hope you know how much this means to patients at our hospital.”

The initiative was sponsored for the fifth year in a row by Davis's Your Independent Grocer in Port Hope, with participants receiving gift cards to the Independent to kick-start their stands – which were then set up on a date of their choosing, with proceeds to the Foundation.
