Improving infrastructure in Cramahe Township will be the main priority for Bob Culetta, if elected mayor. He is frustrated claiming the municipality bought a parking lot for $700,000 when the roads and sidewalks need upgrading. “Heavy on infrastructure,” he said. “I don’t understand the original council, why they went ahead with the $700,000 that could have gone into the roads.”
Culetta wants to build a splash pad for children in the summer, concerned they are playing in local creeks to stay cool. Revamping the Keeler Centre to be more than an arena, possibly creating more of a community centre. Culleta concedes that Castleton is seeing road improvements, but that many residents feel a new fire hall is needed.
He does not have a platform on how he would propose to pay for the repairs, and construction, relying heavily on provincial and federal grants. Taxes ideally for him would be to level out or decrease. Yet how to get there, Culetta said reviewing the financial statements and budget are needed before any commitments are made.
Residents on Telephone Road in Dundonald are not pleased with heavy truck traffic in the area and have called on the current council to address the current quarry operations. Apprehension there, is that there could be increased operating hours and where the road network can handle that level of traffic. Culetta said he would need to consult with residents before moving forward.
He is proposing a complaint tracker, claiming that municipal staff are delayed with either following up or acknowledging concerns and complaints, calling the situation a terrible problem.
He is contesting for mayor against Sandra Arthur and Kevin McGourty.
