UPDATE:Crews battle apartment fire in Colborne

As of 11:40 a.m. Friday Jan. 30.

Provincial Police have closed King St. West, approaching Toronto Road and King St. East in Colborne this morning as emergency crews are attending to a structural fire.

Northumberland County officials say in a press release that a Northumberland County Housing Corporation apartment complex at 8 King Street West is burning. A notification came in just after 4 a.m. this morning.

Paramedics have transported four individuals to hospital with non-life-threatening concerns, including three firefighters and one tenant.

Approximately 20 people have been displaced as a result of the fire. Social Services staff will continue working closely with tenants to identify alternative accommodation options.

The Keeler Centre has been opened to serve as an evacuation point for tenants. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
