Cobourg

The Canadian Federation of University Women Northumberland is pleased to announce another Film Fundraiser Monday, Sept. 29, as a fundraiser for the scholarships and apprenticeships it supports for young women in Northumberland County.

At 2 p.m. at Cobourg's Rainbow Cinema, ticket holders will enjoy the 2024 comedy-drama Penguin Lessons. Directed by Peter Cattaneo (and starring Steven Coogan and Jonathan Pryce), it is based on the true story of a disillusioned Englishman who goes to work in a school in the divided Argentina of 1976 – who finds his life transformed when he rescues an orphaned penguin on the beach.

Your $25 ticket includes popcorn and a full tax-deductible receipt, thanks to sponsor Julie Parker, realtor with Royal Service.

As before, discounts are offered on meals, before and after the show, at the Best Western, Boston Pizza and CJ's.

And a new option is to join a discussion group after the film at CJ's in the backroom.

You can order your tickets through cfuw-northumberland.org, and everyone is welcome.
