One of the most anticipated fundraisers for the Ed's House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre – Sept. 28's Hike, Bike and Bark for Hospice – is taking registrations beginning Aug. 11.
It promises to be another day full of energy, remembrance and community spirit in Cobourg's Victoria Park, the announcement said – and it follows on the heels of last year's record-breaking event that brought in more than $77,000.
It also comes just week's after Ed's House celebrates five years of providing such essential services as volunteer hospice support, in-home visiting hospice education, grief and bereavement counselling, and end-of-life care in their 10-suite hospice residence – all offered free of charge to the families they serve.
With the newly updated website at hikebikebarkforhospice.ca, signing up is easier and ever. And early birds who register between Aug. 11 and 31 are eligible for a chance to win one of three exclusive Early Bird prize packs.
Register as individuals, create a team or join an existing one. Each registrant has access to a personalized dashboard to track donations, monitor fundraising progress and share his or her journey on social media using built-in tools and custom graphics.
Back by popular demand is the friendly leaderboard competition, where fundraisers can compete for the title of Top Individual Fundraiser and Top Fundraising Team.
Whether you are walking in memory of a loved one, cycling for the cause, or just enjoying a day out with your four-legged friend, there's a route for you with a choice of 2K, 5K and 10K options Kids under 12 and dogs participate free, while individuals aged 13 and older can register for just $30 (which includes an official event T-shirt and race kit).
'This event is all about coming together to honour, to support and to make a difference,” Community Care Northumberland Chief Executive Officer Trish Baird said in the announcement.
“Every dollar raised helps ensure Ed's House can continue providing exceptional compassionate hospice care across the county.”
Event sponsorship opportunities are also available for local businesses, organizations and community partners – to learn more about sponsorship packages, or to share your personal hospice story as part of this year's campaign, contact Kristin Andrews at k.andrews@commcare.ca or 905-885-0466.
