Smokey conditions in Cobourg. By Dan Jones, Northumberland 89.7 FM News

Local health officials are warning that smoke from active wildfires from the prairies may be impacting air quality.

Common symptoms from smoke include watery and sore eyes, scratchy throat, sinus issues and headaches.

The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit says the region is currently at a low-moderate risk.

However weather conditions may change with little notice.

Residents are asked to be aware of current conditions and take precautions where needed.
