Montreal man charged with trying to smuggle package into Warkworth prison using a drone

A Montreal man is facing charges for allegedly trying to deliver a package to Warkworth Institution by using a drone.

Northumberland OPP were called to the prison early Thursday morning on a report of drone use.

Officers patrolled the area and observed a passenger vehicle at Murray Marsh.

Police seized a drone, batteries, cannabis paraphernalia, a digital transmitter and a cell phone.

The man will appear in court at a later date.
