Pine Ridge OBOA members raise $15,700 for charity

The Pine Ridge Chapter of the Ontario Building Officials Association hosted its annual charity golf tournament Sept. 5 at Shelter Valley Pines Golf Course in Grafton – and last week presented the results to two local charities.

With generous support by local developers and industry partners across Northumberland County, this year's event brought together 88 golfers who raised an impressive $15,700 – bringing the tournament's total, over its 18-year history, to more than $125,000.

And last week, a cheque for $7,850 each was presented to the Salvation Army and to Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank.

This event was started by Rick Jones, the now-retired former Chief Building Official for the Municipality of Brighton. The tournament continues to thrive under the leadership of a dedicated organizing committee that includes Cobourg CBO Dave Hancock, Hamilton Township CBO Tim Jeronimus and Brighton Deputy CBO Daryl Hall.

“Each year, this tournament showcases the incredible community spirit of local builders, inspectors and developers,” Hancock said in the announcement.

“The funds raised make a real difference locally, and it's wonderful to see the continued enthusiasm and generosity from everyone involved.”
