Three Toronto women are facing charges, accused of stealing more than $7000 from the Port Hope Dollarama.

On Saturday, an off-duty officer saw the women, who matched the description of suspects in a previous alleged theft. The officer notified that the suspects were leaving in a mini-van, travelling east towards Cobourg.

The vehicle was stopped at Northumberland Mall. A search of the van revealed a large quantity of stolen items, including Tylenol, Advil, lighters, chocolate bars, gum, and household goods, with a total estimated value of $7,021.

It was determined that the women had apparently concealed the stolen items within long skirts that had been altered with zippered compartments designed to hide merchandise. The accused were released with future court dates.
