On October 19th and 20th, 2024, the Northumberland Expo for Women (NEW) returns for its second year at the Cobourg Community Centre. Founded in 2022 by Maria Papaioannoy of Cobourg, and Signe Langford of Port Hope, NEW is the only event of its kind – exclusively by women, for women – in the Northumberland region.
An event designed to empower women and girls was on Maria’s radar for some time
Over two days at the Cobourg Community Centre, attendees will experience talks, Q & As, and participate in workshops given by women experts from a wide range of fields – from finance and law to women’s health and wellness – offering advice, practical information, and inspiration. NEW ’24 runs from 10 am to 5pm both days and features incredible speakers from across Northumberland and beyond.
But it’s not all serious stuff. There’s also a market of over 40 women makers and entrepreneurs, an art exhibit of local talent, and an in-house café courtesy of Milly’s Port Hope.
Over the weekend, yoga practitioners will lead guests in restorative sessions of sound bathing and movement; authors will read from their works; practitioners will offer spa treatments; and door prizes will be awarded.
