Voting now open in Port Hope by-election; listen to candidate interviews
Voting is now open to eligible rural voters in Port Hope’s Ward 2 municipal by-election until June 6 at 8 p.m.
Those who have not received a Voter Instruction Letter can still be added to the Voters’ List by calling 905-885-4544 ext. 0 or e-mail clerk@porthope.ca
Voting in the Ward 2 (Rural Area) By-election is conducted online or by phone. Each voter requires a Voter Instruction Letter. Included in the VIL is a secure website address as well as a phone number. Voters must use one of these methods cast a vote in the by-election.
In-person voting, using secure online technology, can also be conducted at a Voter Assistance Centre at Fire Station 3 (3585 Ganaraska Road) or the Port Hope Community Hub (5325 County Road 10).
Every eligible voter must have their Personal Identification Number (PIN) to vote. These PINs, found in the VIL’s, are unique to each voter and can only be used once.
Hours for the Voter Assistance Centres are: Port Hope Community Hub – 5325 County Road 10: June 1 - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. June 5 4 to 8 p.m and June 6 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Port Hope Fire Station 3 - June 1 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 3 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and June 6 - 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
After the results have been tallied and verified on June 6, the results will be announced in-person in Council Chambers, live-streamed on the municipal YouTube channel, and posted online on our website at porthope.ca/by-election and on our Instagram and Facebook channels.
